Greg Boykin Bio Continued...

Boykin, a USATF Level-1 Certified Track & Field Coach and Official, has coached athletes from age eight through high school in events ranging from throws to jumps to relays. He spent nearly 15 years with the Firebirds Track Club and has been a key assistant with Good Counsel since 2022.

During that time, he helped lead the Falcons to the 2024–25 WCAC Indoor Track & Field Championship, supported a school-record-breaking 4x100-meter relay team, and coached a bronze medalist in shot put at the 2023 WCAC outdoor meet.

“When the position opened up, I stepped in to help maintain the continuity and strong culture we’d built,” Boykin said. “We have a great group of coaches and athletes, and I felt called to continue moving this program forward.”

Boykin emphasizes discipline, teamwork and student-first values.

“They're student-athletes, with the emphasis on students,” he said. “I always tell them: poor preparation promotes poor performance — in the classroom and on the track.”

Through his coaching, Boykin aims to build a culture of accountability and cross-sport collaboration, encouraging athletes from football, baseball and other programs to use track as a training ground for speed, strength and competition. His coaching philosophy is rooted in adaptability, understanding that each athlete responds to motivation differently.

“I want our athletes to represent the school with pride — as competitors and as ambassadors,” Boykin said. “When we won the indoor title this year, it was more than just a trophy. It was proof that the hard work paid off.”
