The Madison Jane Smith '25 “Never Settle” Endowed Memorial Scholarship was established by family and friends to celebrate the life and legacy of Madison Smith ’25.  The purpose of this Scholarship is to provide a four-year merit award to an incoming freshman who embodies Madison’s spirit:

A team player with a humble and generous spirit with a preference for accomplished talent in golf, swim or other sport;

A student who has overcome adversity;

After a courageous battle with cancer, Madison passed away October 22, 2023. Madison was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, teammate, and friend.

Madison embraced being a part of the Good Counsel community. She was one of the youngest members of the varsity golf team, and one of the only girls on the team. Madison competed throughout her chemotherapy treatments.  She battled for the WCAC girl’s championship less than six months before her passing. Madison received All-Met Second Team honors as a Sophomore and Honorable Mention as a Freshman.  She was honored with being named captain of the team for what would have been her senior season (2025). She also competed for the Good Counsel swim team and helped the team to the 2022-23 WCAC Championship. 

Madison was recognized as a member of the National Honor Society.  She had aspirations of playing Division 1 golf and playing at Augusta National. 

Your contribution to the Madison Jane Smith ’25 “Never Settle” Endowed Memorial Scholarship will allow other Good Counsel students who embody Madison’s spirit and courage to benefit from financial support and succeed at Good Counsel.
