This scholarship was established during the 2019 Grand Celebration Funds for Our Falcons Live Appeal in honor of long-standing Good Counsel teacher, Dennis Essig. This scholarship provides financial assistance to an academically sound, rising senior who demonstrates their commitment to Good Counsel through involvement in athletics, service, or extracurricular activities.
In 1978, Our Lady of Good Counsel High School welcomed a faculty member, Mr. Dennis Essig. At the time of his hire, fresh out of Catholic University, few could have imagined the impact he has had on the lives of thousands of Good Counsel students over the course of his 42-year career. A beloved foreign language teacher, he is known for recounting stories to help explain difficult lessons, offering sound advice, and playing his guitar. His love and passion for education have left an indelible mark on the Good Counsel community.
