Daniel Booth enters his fifth season as head golf coach at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School.
Since taking over in 2021, Booth has led a significant expansion of the program, transforming it from a single varsity squad into a five-team system that includes varsity, junior varsity, a developmental practice squad, and, most recently, an all-girls team.
“We want to win championships on the varsity team and give players a platform to showcase their skills to go on to play college golf,” Booth said.

“I want to foster a community of people at Good Counsel who love to and can play golf.”
Under Booth’s leadership, the Falcons have added more than ten matches to the varsity schedule, secured Manor Country Club in Rockville, Maryland, as their home course, and established more consistent coordination across uniforms and operations. His player-first approach has led to steady competitive success, including a third-place finish at the Maryland State Championship and multiple athletes earning WCAC and Washington Post All-Met honors. Last season, four seniors received offers to play Division III college golf.
“Golf has exploded at Good Counsel,” Booth said. “Instead of cutting all these people, I thought it best to create this third team, this practice squad … We could keep them in the program, teach them, coach them, and give them something to aim for.”
Originally from Essex, England, Booth played soccer and golf in his youth, finishing in the top 10 in junior golf competitions and playing collegiate soccer. “I always say that soccer was my trade and golf was my passion,” he said. “My father was the guy who got me into golf.”
He began teaching and coaching in public schools around London before moving to the U.S. in 2017. Booth taught math at Washington Jesuit Academy while coaching soccer before joining Good Counsel, where he teaches mathematics. He previously served as the JV golf coach and JV soccer coach before being named head varsity golf coach in 2021.
“I've worked on two continents as a coach and as a teacher, and Good Counsel is the best school I think I've ever worked at,” Booth said. “It's a great community to be a part of."
