Description
The purpose of the Falcon Scholars Institute is to provide rising 8th graders with the opportunity to take a deep dive into our human existence. Students will explore the world beyond the classroom to discover links between fields of knowledge and the unity of what is true, beautiful, and good.
During this week-long experience, students participate in thought-provoking group discussions and then further explore the topics on daily field trips. The trips will highlight four subject areas: Social Studies, Science, Fine Arts, and World Religion.* Through experiential learning techniques, this course encourages students to develop life-long learning skills rooted in wonder and curiosity.
* Aspects of religion are not limited to Catholic views and incorporate theological ideas from various world religions.
REQUIREMENT: This week-long course is designed for students with academic curiosity who are motivated by independent learning. Students are required to submit a recommendation from their teacher or principal. Upon registering, a recommendation form will be sent to you via email.

What to bring
- Dress in comfortable, active-wear clothing and sneakers
- Lunch in a cooler and a full water bottle with camper's name on it
*The lunch plan is not available for this camps due to field trip schedules.
Camp Director:
Jose Remedios, GC Religion Teacher
Jose Remedios is a Good Counsel faculty member who teaches religion. He graduated from Franciscan University with a Bachelor of Science in History and Theology. After graduating, he traveled to Rome to continue his studies in Theology, eventually earning his S.T.B. from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas. Jose then moved to Washington DC to pursue his post-graduate studies at the Dominican House of Studies. He earned an S.T.L. and realized his dream of becoming a school teacher. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in Theology.
Good Counsel is fortunate to have Mr. Remedios as a member of the faculty for 17 years. He is happily married with three wonderful and crazy children.
