  • All advanced camps are open to those 12-13 years old with club experience, or 14 years old through the graduating class of 2024 seniors.

Description

Tactical Camp:  This camp will focus on utilizing volleyball fundamentals in more advanced volleyball schemes both offensive and defensive found at a high level of play.  Campers will learn how and when to apply them in match-specific situations. They will be taught and learn the "Why's" of each strategy implemented at camp.  Highly recommended for those who have volleyball club/playing experience, as this will be a mix of game-like drills further situated into actual game play.  

What to bring

  • Volleyball knee pads, sneakers, a shirt that covers the collarbone, shorts/spandex, and towel
  • A full water bottle with the camper's name on it

Camp Director: Corey SommervilleCoach Corey was born and raised in the DC area.  He was a multi-sport athlete who is now a professional certified sports trainer and volleyball coach with over 15 years of experience. Corey’s playing experience covers Little League, high school, collegiate, and semi-professional levels. He attended Morgan State University from 2004-2007 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in exercise science. Corey was a 3-year football player while playing semi-professional men’s volleyball in Baltimore, MD. 
Playing Experience:

  • 2013 -2014: Played Competitive Semi-Pro Volleyball for New York Urban Professionals (Top Division) Men’s League
  • 2004-2007: Played Competitive Semi-Professional Men’s League in Baltimore, MD

Coaching  Experience:

  • 2022-2024: Head Varsity Volleyball Coach at Seed Public Charter School (D.C.). 35-4 record in 2 seasons, 2 championship appearances, Ranked 4th in D.C.
  • 2022-2023: Girls 15 Navy Head Coach at St. James VBC. AAU Nationals Appearance.
  • 2021-2022: Girls 14 Navy Head Coach at St. James VBC. USAV Nationals Bid, ranked in top 150 in the U.S. 
  • 2018-2021: Varsity Head Volleyball Coach at Indian Creek High School (Crownsville, Maryland) (won championship in first season and only 5 losses in 3 years)
  • 2021: Assistant Coach Metro 14 Travel
  • 2020/21: Head Coach 15’s Elite (Travel Team) Maryland Juniors VBC
  • 2019/20: Head Coach 17’s (Second Travel Team) Maryland Juniors VBC
