Description

The Good Counsel High School Softball Camp is an exciting opportunity tailored specifically for incoming 6th to 9th graders eager to enhance their softball skills. Our camp is designed with a primary focus on player development, concentrating on key aspects of the game such as pitching, catching, offense, infield, and outfield play.

Throughout the camp, participants will engage in a dynamic combination of skill-building drills and live scrimmages. Our experienced coaches will guide players through specialized exercises aimed at honing their batting, base running, and defensive skills. The emphasis on both individual improvement and team dynamics ensures a comprehensive learning experience, fostering a well-rounded understanding of the game.

At camp this year, players have the opportunity to participate in a variety of drills and scrimmages throughout the week to build and showcase their skills. Each player will also have the opportunity to receive a full metrics evaluation using the most up-to-date technology. This evaluation will include metrics for hitting and throwing velocity, baserunning times, pitching velocity, and catcher pop times.

Amy Bresson, GC Varsity Assistant Softball Coach

Amy Bresson, GC Varsity Softball Assistant Coach

Coach Bresson is in her fourth season with the Good Counsel softball program. She was a 4-year varsity starter at Reservoir High School, earning All-County honors as a catcher, infielder, and outfielder. She went on to play at Lynchburg College, where she remained after graduation as a graduate assistant coach and recruiter. Coach Bresson has experience coaching at all levels.

Camp will also be led by the following coaches:

Nick Alexander, GC Softball Head Coach

Coach Nick is the Head Coach for the Good Counsel softball program and leads the Varsity team. He is currently in his fourth season with the school, serving as an assistant and interim head coach for the varsity program in 2021, and then taking over the program in 2022 when he was honored to be named WCAC Coach of the Year.

AJ Avant-Johnson

Coach AJ is a player development coach for the Stars National Program and a full-time professional hitting instructor. He is currently an assistant coach with the Damascus High School softball team. In 2023, he helped lead the Hornets to win the 3A State championship. Coach AJ has a decade’s worth of coaching experience.
