Volunteers will assist the Auxiliary Programs Office with a variety of daily tasks associated with Good Counsel’s Summer Camp program. Upon completion of the one-week commitment, students will fulfill their service hours requirement* for the 2026-2027 school year.
* Some camps may not provide counselors with 20 hours of service. If this is the case, the student will need to complete the remaining hours through other service activities.
Tasks include the following:
- Provide general assistance for camp directors: help at morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up; escort campers to the restrooms or first aid station; clean supplies during breaks and at the end of the camp day; supervise camper lunch, water breaks, and aftercare
- Supervise campers at Falcons Soar Camp
- Take videos and photos during camp activities
- Provide clerical support
IMPORTANT POLICY: Although counselors will perform a variety of tasks, having an interest in working with children is a MUST. We rely on our counselors to exhibit Good Counsel's values and expect them to model appropriate behavior at all times. If a counselor is unable to meet these expectations, they will be excused from camp and will receive ZERO volunteer hours for the week.
Requirements:
- Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior
- Must obtain a background check
- The cost of the background check is the volunteer's responsibility
- Must complete all paperwork and training required by the State of Maryland
- Must be available for the entire one-week schedule, and be present for the full shift each day. No “partial-week/partial-shift” requests will be permitted.
