Baseline Testing

As part of our pre-participating physical exam, most student athletes will be required to complete a computerized neuro-physical exam (ImPACT) which evaulates athletes' reaction time, concentration, and memory. This provides the GC Sports Medicine staff "baseline scores" for comparison should you sustain a concussion/head injury throughout your athletic career at GC.

Student athletes required to complete ImPACT testing will be determined on a sport-by-sport basis or by the GC Sports Medicine staff. If a student fails to complete a baseline assessment prior to their first schedule practice, the Sports Medicine staff will restrict participation until testing is complete.

Information for Visiting Teams

The Good Counsel Athletic Training Staff welcomes you and your team for your upcoming athletic event.

The Athletic Training Room will be open approximately one hour prior to competition, and will remain open for 30-60 minutes after the completion has ended. A member of our staff will be present at every home contest. In the event that there are 2 concurrent events on campus the ATC will be on-site or on call (within a couple minutes) via radio or cell phone contact.

If you have traveled with an ATC, you are welcome to use our facilities and modalities. Our staff will be available at all times to assist with any services you may need. If you have special needs, please contact us prior to arrival. If you are traveling without an ATC, we will be happy to assist your athletes. Please notify us in advance so we may better prepare to serve your athletes. Please ensure your team travels with appropriate supplies for taping and wound care as well as student-athlete insurance and contact information in case of emergency.
