Junior Ryan Vipavetz performance at the international meet in Dublin over spring break was very impressive. He finished top five in several events, and his time in the 200 fly met the qualifying standards for the 2016 Olympic Trials. USA Swimming sets these standards every four years, and a swimmer has to qualify within the two year time frame leading up to the Olympics. That means that Ryan will have to swim this time again after July 30 of this year in order to "officially" qualify for Trials. In the meantime, meeting the 2016 time standard is a noteworthy accomplishment. The last year we had Olympic Trials qualifiers was 2013—Catherine Mulquin and Jack Conger.
