Xaverian Mission & Philosophy

At Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, faith and learning grow together. Founded by the Xaverian Brothers in 1958 as a college-preparatory school for boys, Good Counsel became a coeducational community thirty years later.

Today, more than 1,250 students are inspired each year to learn, serve, and lead in the Xaverian tradition of academic excellence, faith formation, and care for others. The Xaverian Brothers' guiding motto, “In harmony small things grow,” reflects the heart of who we are. We believe that when students learn in a community of faith, compassion, and respect, they discover their unique gifts and use them to make a difference in the world.

Founded in Belgium by Theodore James Ryken, the Xaverian Brothers are a lay religious congregation inspired by Saint Francis Xavier. Through education and service across the globe, they continue to share the ideals of Christian brotherhood—a legacy that thrives every day at Good Counsel.
