Athletics

ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Our Lady of Good Counsel High School (OLGCHS) seeks an Athletic Director to begin duties in August 2019.

The position reports to the Principal. This is a full-time, 12-month position. The Athletic Director typically does not have teaching duties.

OLGCHS is a co-ed, Catholic school, sponsored by the Xaverian Brothers. It is the largest private high school in the State of Maryland. In a typical year, across the fall, winter, and spring seasons, there are more than 1,000 athletic participations in 45 teams in 24 sports. The majority of interscholastic sports are played within the nationally-renowned Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC). The Athletic Director leads a department with one full-time Assistant Athletic Director, three full-time Athletic Trainers, and a large number of coaches.

Auxiliary Programs

Auxiliary Programs Internship

Working under the direction of the Director of Auxiliary Programs, the Auxiliary Programs Intern will support various aspects of programs including special events, rentals and facility scheduling, parent and student clubs, adult enrichment classes, and summer camps for Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. The intern will assist with communications and logistical planning in preparation for a wide variety of community programs. This is a winter/spring semester, unpaid position with an opportunity to be considered for summer employment (paid). The Director of Auxiliary Programs will work with the intern to help meet any requirements to receive college course credit for this internship. Ideally, the candidate will be available 20 hours per week. Hours will be flexible to work around schedules.

Responsibilities may include the following:

    • Assisting with events including marketing to community constituents, recording RSVPs, facilitating event set-up and registration
    • Communicating and interacting with students, staff, faculty, parents, and local community members
    • Writing and proofreading promotional pieces, emails, and website content
    • Organizing logistics for the adult enrichment program and summer camps
    • Monitoring registration and rental databases, and creating data reports
    • Assisting with hiring and training summer camp staff
    • Preparing and composing correspondence to program registrants
    • Coordinating facility rental schedules, and communicating requirements and billing to renting parties
    • Assisting with county and state camp certification process
    • Communicating with summer camp directors and managers

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Minimum of one full year of college; preferred majors – communications, sports management, marketing, public relations, journalism, English, business or related fields of study
    • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation and spelling
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills
    • Ability to organize, track, and compare data
    • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Office products especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with Photoshop and/or InDesign a plus.
    • Extraordinary attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills
    • Must be able to pass criminal background check

CHIEF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

The role of the CHIEF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER is to provide leadership for the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, support, and evaluation of all aspects of Information Technology at the school.

This position is a full-time, 12-month, administrative position reporting to the President.

DIRECTOR OF CAMPUS MINISTRY

The new Director is expected to begin duties in August 2019 and will report to the President and lead a department of three associate campus ministers and a part-time administrative assistant. The Director takes the lead in the supervision, coordination, and staffing of all programs in the areas of Word and Worship, Retreats, Student and Faculty Formation, and Service.
