CHAPLAIN'S CORNER
Rembrandt's RETURN OF THE PRODIGAL SON
"Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you;
I no longer deserve to be called your son. But his father ordered his
servants, quickly bring the finest robe and put it on him; put a ring on his
finger and sandals on his feet. Take the fatted calf and slaughter
it. Then let us celebrate with a feast, because this son of mine was dead,
and has come to life again; he was lost, and has been found. Then the
celebration began."
Lk. 15. 21-24

"If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it." John 14: 15 It seems to me that we forget that Jesus said he would send another, an Advocate, for our benefit. Often times, we face difficult decisions or vexing temptations. Do we call on the power of the Spirit to get us through these situations? The next time you don't know what to do or find it hard to overcome a temptation, call on the Holy Spirit to help you.
