Support Good Counsel
Good Counsel has been providing outstanding academic opportunities and a caring environment for 50 years. When the school opened as the first Catholic boy's day school in Montgomery County in September of 1958 there was an enrollment of 260 freshmen, 23 sophomores and 12 faculty members. From its inception, Good Counsel has been blessed by exceptional leadership, beginning with the first Principal, Brother Mark McCarthy. The school can trace its outstanding foundation to Brother Mark and the first full graduating class, the Class of 1962. In his graduation letter to the seniors, Brother Mark wrote:
"The splendid reputation which Good Counsel enjoys today can be traced directly to you. In the years ahead we will continue to be judged by how well you do in college and in life itself. We would not have it otherwise. In your capable and willing hands the future of Good Counsel is assured."
The qualities that make Good Counsel an exceptional place of learning are the direct result of annual support each year from alumni, parents, parents of alumni, grandparents and friends of the school.
Tuition and fees cover about 90% of the cost of a Good Counsel education and the school relies on the support of alumni, parents and friends to help bridge the gap between tuition income and growing financial demands.
