Meggie Curran ’02- United Stated Naval Academy ‘07
Meggie Curran ‘02 was awarded the Vice Admiral Lawrence Sword for Women, which is presented to that woman of the graduating class who is considered by
the Association's Athletic Council to have personally excelled in women's athletics during her years of varsity competition. The United States Naval Academy announced its major athletic award winners in May of 2007 at the annual Prizes and Awards Ceremony at Alumni Hall.
A three-time First-Team All-Patriot League selection, Curran became the program's first All-American when she was named to the third team last fall. She led Navy to a 21-2-1 record last fall as Navy advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. She finished her career as the school's all-time assist leader with 42, second all-time in scoring with 118 points and fourth all-time on the goals list with 38.
Curran is the fourth women's soccer player to win the award, established in 1980.
Patrick Pflaum ‘91
Patrick Pflaum ‘91, a Major in the Army Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps, is currently attending the graduate course at the Army JAG School on the
University of Virginia campus in Charlottesville. The JAG attorneys in the graduate course are sworn in to the Bar of the Supreme Court. After the ceremony, Chief Justice John Roberts attended the reception to congratulate the attorneys and pose for photographs. After completing the graduate course in May, Pat has also been selected to remain at the JAG School as part of the faculty to teach Criminal Law.
His parents, Justine and Timothy Pflaum ‘63, would like to add that Patrick is very skilled at expressing himself through his writing and public speaking- skills that he learned at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School through the academic curriculum and the Speech and Debate club.
Jon Pels ‘86
Jon D. Pels, Esq. ‘86 of the Bethesda-based law firm of Pels Anderson, LLC, has been
selected by the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association (MTLA) for the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award, which he received on May 11, 2007. Jon is married with five children and lives in Bethesda, MD.
