Science

The science department at Good Counsel High School has made it a priority to develop scientific literacy and problem solving skills for all of our students. Such skills not only make our graduates more competitive in the marketplace, they also make them better thinkers. As a result, we are engaged in a two-year transition to convert the instruction of Physics from the conventional 11th/12th grade to the 9th grade. This "Physics First" approach will provide our students with the skills to excel in all science courses during their years in Good Counsel. It also provides our juniors and seniors the opportunity to enroll in upper-level courses in both the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement Programs.

Although only 3 years of science is required for graduation, over 80% of Good Counsel students take an additional year of science. This enthusiasm of the sciences is due in no small part to the commitment and dedication of the science staff, which strives to increase student achievement and success in science education.
